Dr. M. Nisa Khan is the author of ‘Understanding LED Illumination’—a popular university-level textbook on laser and LED engineering and solid-state lighting. She earned her BA in Physics and Mathematics from Macalester College, USA, in 1986, and completed her MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, in 1988 and 1992, respectively. She is widely known for her deep knowledge and contributions in electromagnetic phenomena and related devices such as lasers, LEDs for lighting, and RF antennas. Dr. Tanvir Hossain: “Passionate about science from an early age. He was a founding member of the Investigative Science Club during his school years. Later, his science articles were published in various newspapers and magazines. Recently, he has been explaining complex scientific topics in simple language for general readers via social media. Writing about science in fluent Bangla is a hallmark of his style. The main goal of his writing is to increase science awareness in Bangladesh and inspire young people to be scientifically minded. He has a collection of science essays called ‘Science of the Century’. Besides writing, astrophotography is one of his main hobbies. Dr. Bipra Ranjan Dhar: Assistant Professor, University of Alberta, Canada. After his bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from BUET, he earned his Doctorate from the University of Waterloo. Md. Golam Mostafa Zaman Bhuiyan: Works in the web division of a US-based e-commerce company. Previously, he was the editor of the IT Corner of Bangladesh’s national newspaper, Daily Ittefaq. Md. Zakir Hossain (Raju): Currently a third-year student in the Department of Finance and Banking, University of Rajshahi. Worked with Visual Basic at the HSC level and now works in PHP. He founded Genex Web Solutions and works there as a web developer. Also, he is the head of the ICT division of the PHP Expert Group Bangladesh, and of the ‘Portfolio’ organization for former and current students of the Finance and Banking Department. Shahjahan Siraj: After completing his degree in Computer Engineering, currently works as a Network Administrator at a Knit Composite Textile company in Dhaka. Parag Jafar Siddique: Studying mechanical engineering at the National University of Sciences and Technology, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, on a government scholarship since 2004. Currently a third-year (sixth semester) student. [email protected]

Syed Ziaul Habib (Ruboan): Currently working at The Hunger Project Bangladesh. An active volunteer at Sujon (Citizens for Good Governance). In 2000, helped publish the Election Commission’s database of 75 million voters, including photo voter lists, on the web, collaborating with Sujon (now the model for EC’s current voter database). Previously worked in Visual Basic, now working with PHP and recently started working with Joomla. Created some documentary films. Also does photography as a hobby. Has won two international awards from Photoshare and Interaction. Associated with forums such as Somewherein, PHPXpert, and others. Moderator of PHP Team. H. H. Nazrul Islam Khan (Ziko): Bachelors in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from North South University, and Masters in Creative Multimedia from Lincoln University, Malaysia. Currently employed in the IT industry in Malaysia. Nazrul is a core member of Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDOSN). He is engaged in Linux administration, network management, various commercial and custom content management systems, and audio-visual content development. He manages the Biggani.org system. Alamgir Mohammad: Doctoral candidate in Telecommunications at Victoria University, Australia. Also an associate lecturer at Shahjalal University. He contributes to the Bangla version of Joomla and works on the Bangla OCR (Optical Character Recognition) project (a procedure for converting scanned images to digital text).

Shamima Yasmin Rima: From 2017 to 2019, she managed the Biggani.org system and handled coordination tasks. She published a weekly science newsletter.

Salma Akter: Earned her MS in Horticulture from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Currently working as Principal Investigator for the Integrated Rice-Fish Farming Research Project at POKKHOM, Dhaka. Together, Abdur Rashid and Salma Akter co-authored the book ‘Advanced Techniques in Fruit Cultivation,’ June 2007.
