Consider your research goals and the type of readers who will be reading it, and even whether it will be cited in their future work. This will help you build a picture of which type of journal is suitable for your research.

2. Get familiar with the journal’s content

Reading articles from your selected journal is a good way to assess their publishing standards. This helps you understand what kind of articles the journal publishes and which topics it covers. It also helps you determine if your research is a good fit for that journal.

3. Check the journal’s aims and scope

Every journal has a specific goal and objective, which is clearly stated in their mission statement. This gives you an idea of the core aim or purpose of the journal, and the scope explains how this aim will be achieved. If you find that certain aspects or content of your research do not fit within the scope of your chosen journal, you need to understand that it is not the right journal for your research.
