Receiving a scholarship for higher education is the dream of every student and a vital step towards future development. It is not only a matter of personal growth for the student, but also a pride for the entire nation. However, it is extremely important that application documents such as the Statement of Purpose (SoP), Research Proposal, and Cover Letter—are written by the applicant themselves. These documents reflect the student’s qualifications, intentions, and their perspective towards research.

Yet in many cases, some students have these documents prepared by agencies. This is fundamentally unethical and a major offense. It is as despicable an act as cheating in the examination hall. If a student obtains a scholarship this way, every achievement and income they gain in the future becomes questionable. This is because they did not truly earn the opportunity with their own merit. It also means another truly deserving candidate is unjustly deprived of their rightful place.

Obtaining a scholarship by using agency-prepared documents is a violation of ethics and amounts to taking away someone else’s rightful sustenance. This could become a serious matter of accountability in the Hereafter.

Even worse, when foreign universities discover that some students from Bangladesh are securing scholarships through such unqualified means, they begin to lose trust in the entire nation. As a result, future opportunities for Bangladeshi students to receive scholarships may shrink. Bangladesh could even be excluded from some scholarship lists. In this way, due to the ignorance and greed of a few individuals, the whole nation may suffer.

Therefore, it is essential to put an end to these agency-dependent processes and properly prepare students. Students should be given appropriate training to write their SoP, Research Proposal, and Cover Letter. Universities and relevant institutions can arrange workshops and training programs for research, writing, and application preparation. This way, students can improve based on their own merit and earn their opportunities ethically.

This is how students will truly gain skills, bring a new perspective to research, and the nation will progress along the path of development. Such an honest and capable generation will enhance the country’s reputation, InshaAllah.
