Dhaka, January 3, 2008 — In a joint initiative, Biggani.org (Biggani.org) and Stamford University Bangladesh held a unique seminar in Dhaka today titled “Bangladeshi Expertises in USA”. The seminar, held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, saw significant participation from students and faculty members of Stamford University.

The main objective of this event was to directly connect Bangladeshi scientists, engineers, and professionals living abroad with students in Bangladesh, sharing their knowledge and experience. The seminar is recognized as an effective initiative towards ‘Reverse Brain Drain’ rather than ‘brain drain’, where Bangladeshis working abroad are contributing to the country’s education system and the development of its younger generation.

Distinguished Bangladeshi experts from various sectors working in the United States participated in the seminar and delivered important speeches on topics related to science, technology, medicine, and higher education. The speakers included—

  • Professor Maksudul Alam — Professor, Department of Microbiology; Director, Advanced Research in Genomics, Proteomics, and Bioinformatics, University of Hawaii at Manoa
  • Dr. Nuran Nabi — Scientist and author; Community Leader
  • Dr. Shayestagir Chowdhury — Senior Staff Engineer, Intel Corporation, USA
  • Dr. Mashiur Rahman — Scientist, Marshall University, West Virginia, USA; Founder, Biggani.org (Biggani.org)
  • Dr. Sultan S. Ahmed — Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine, Nova Southeastern University, USA

The speakers shared their practical experiences with students on topics such as biotechnology education, semiconductor technology, e-learning, IT outsourcing, higher education in the health sector, and international business opportunities. During an interactive Q&A session with the students, they also offered valuable guidance on pursuing higher education and career building abroad.

Biggani.org gratefully acknowledges the significant contributions of those from Stamford University Bangladesh who played crucial roles in the successful organization and coordination of this seminar. Special recognition goes to—

  • Kamruddin Noor — Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, Stamford University Bangladesh
  • Professor Lutfor Rahman — Vice Chancellor (VC), Stamford University Bangladesh

This international standard knowledge-sharing event was made possible through the dedicated collaboration of the university administration and the sincere efforts of the faculty members.

According to Biggani.org, this event was an initial but very important step in bringing the knowledge-based contributions of expatriate Bangladeshis to the students of the country.

Biggani.org believes that by following the philosophy “For Bangladesh, In Bangladesh”, sharing the knowledge and experience of expatriate Bangladeshis with the country’s young generation can bring about long-term positive changes in the nation’s science, technology, and innovation sectors. Biggani.org is proud to be a part of this initiative.
