A few days ago, Projanmo Forum began its journey. Essentially, it will function like an online discussion board. The main topics covered on Projanmo Forum are sports, literature and culture, politics and current affairs, economics, caretaker government, science, information and communication technology, open source and Bangla computing, studies, higher education and career, adventure, daily life, and humor. While many sites have previously taken the initiative to create forums for Bangladeshis, the unique feature of Projanmo Forum is that the entire site will facilitate discussions in the Bangla language. It is only natural that if Bangladeshis want to discuss something, they should do so in Bangla. However, due to some technical issues, primarily font-related problems, this hadn’t been possible. The good news is that by using Unicode Bangla on this site, that issue has been resolved. As far as I know, Projanmo Forum is the first comprehensive forum site for Bangla speakers, fully in the Bangla language. International Mother Language Day (21st February) is coming up. With the use of Bangla increasing in the courts and legal systems, a new pathway has opened up for Bangla usage. However, we are still far behind in using Bangla on computers and the internet. It is undoubtedly true that this site will play a significant role in popularizing Bangla usage on computers. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the pioneering members of Projanmo Forum for taking such an initiative. May their efforts be successful. Along with this, I invite everyone to use more Bangla on computers. Share your thoughts with others on Projanmo Forum. One day, these steps will play an important role in building a beautiful Bangladesh in the future.
