In the upcoming episode of Biggani.org’s interview project, we are joined by Dr. Amit Kumar Shikder, who is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Iowa State University. His primary research areas include the security and privacy of smart devices and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as the security of smart healthcare systems, malware analysis, cyber-physical systems security, machine learning security, and distributed systems security. His academic journey began in Bangladesh and, through institutions like BUET, Florida International University, and Georgia Tech, he has reached a significant position in the US research arena.
This online interview will be especially beneficial for students who are considering cybersecurity, AI, IoT, smart devices, or preparing for higher education and research. From Dr. Shikder’s experience, students will learn how real-world technological problems are transformed into research topics, how to establish themselves in international-quality research, and what the path looks like from Bangladesh to world-class research and academia. His work particularly highlights why security is so crucial in the future era of connected devices, health tech, and artificial intelligence.
If you are interested in research, want to learn about cybersecurity, or wish to draw inspiration from the international journey of a Bangladeshi researcher, this session will be extremely valuable for you.
