Selecting the right journal in the world of research and academic publishing is extremely important. Nowadays, countless journals are available in both online and print formats. While some of these journals maintain high standards, there are many non-indexed and predatory journals whose published research has no global recognition. Therefore, to reach an international standard with your research, you must choose journals very carefully.
Nowadays, the quality of most journals published by various universities, departments, or individual initiatives is questionable. In Bangladesh, India, and many other developing countries, the number of such journals is increasing day by day. Publishing in these journals can actually damage your academic profile. That’s why, before submitting an article to any journal, it is essential to check whether it is indexed in the Web of Science or Scopus. Because in research today, everyone looks for quality, not quantity.
Web Of Science Journal
The Web of Science (WoS) is an internationally recognized research indexing platform. Every journal indexed here is selected based on scientific quality, strict peer review process, publication transparency, research ethics, and suitability for the international reader and researcher community. Almost all universities, research institutes, and funding agencies in developed countries consider research published in WoS-indexed journals when evaluating researchers. For research grants, postdocs, scholarships, academic recruitment, or promotion, publication in a WoS-indexed journal is often mandatory. So, before publishing your research paper, always check whether the journal you are about to submit to is included in the Web of Science.

Scopus Journal
Scopus is a globally recognized academic research database operated by Elsevier. Every journal listed on this platform is selected based on scientific quality, strong peer review, editorial policies, and maintaining international standards. Research published in Scopus-indexed journals is globally acknowledged and plays a crucial role in academic careers, research grants, scholarships, and opportunities for higher education. Therefore, it is vital to check whether the journal you intend to submit your research to is listed in Scopus, because many fake or predatory journals claim to be Scopus indexed.

Non-Indexed Journal
Non-indexed journals are usually not listed in any internationally recognized database like Web of Science or Scopus. As a result, even if research published in these journals is included in your profile, it holds no value in the developed world. In many cases, articles published in these journals may have a high citation count. However, in reality, most of these are self-citations or group citations, which do not reflect the true quality of the research. Therefore, to preserve the future and quality of your research profile, it is most reasonable to refrain from publishing articles in non-indexed journals.
Predatory Journal
Predatory journals publish research very quickly and easily in exchange for money. Usually, these journals either have no specific peer review process or, if they do, it is merely superficial. In many cases, they use fake ISSNs, false impact factors, or names similar to reputable journals to mislead researchers. Publishing in predatory journals negatively impacts your career.
