OpenAI has recently unveiled their new model “o1”, which scored 120 on an IQ test administered by Mensa Norway. This score proves that it ranks among the top 10 percent of humanity.
What is IQ? IQ (Intelligence Quotient) is a measure of intelligence that typically depends on reasoning, problem-solving skills, and logical thinking ability. The average human IQ score is usually 100. OpenAI’s new model scored 120, which is significantly higher than that of the general population.
What is an AI Model?
An AI (Artificial Intelligence) model is a type of software that can think and perform tasks like a human. For example, an AI model can reason, answer questions, and carry out complex calculations.
About OpenAI’s “o1” Model
OpenAI’s o1 model is much more advanced than previous versions. It excels in solving complex mathematical problems and has strong programming capabilities. For instance, it scored 83% on the International Mathematics Olympiad exam, whereas the previous version GPT-4o scored only 13%.
Concern or Celebration?
Although this advanced AI model is able to perform human tasks more efficiently, it could put some people at risk of losing their jobs.
