VC – Pro-VC: What They Should Be Like!

Now is the time to appoint high-quality researchers as VC/Pro-VC. Because in nearly all universities, these positions are either vacant or about to become vacant.

To elevate the universities of independent Bangladesh to global standards, it is essential to appoint Vice-Chancellors or Pro-Vice Chancellors of international caliber and quality.

Qualifications:

1. The candidate must have a PhD degree and at least one post-doctoral experience. Priority will be given to foreign PhD degrees.

2. The candidate must be a professor with at least 15 years of work experience at a university.

3. At least 100 research articles must be published in Scimago-listed journals.

4. The candidate’s journal articles must have at least 2000 citations, an h-index of at least 20, and an i-10 index of at least 50. Higher numbers will be given preference.

5. Must have experience supervising at least 30 theses, including a minimum of 7 PhD theses and 23 MS/Bachelor theses. Experience as a supervisor or co-supervisor for foreign fellows will be given priority.

6. Must have experience working as principal or co-principal investigator in projects funded by at least 10 national and 2 international agencies.

7. Preference will be given to those who have helped at least 5 fellows receive scholarships for higher education abroad, either through supervising them or through recommendation letters.

8. Must have research collaboration experience with at least 5 national and 2 international institutions.

9. Must have experience presenting research papers at at least 10 conferences (including 2 international conferences).

10. Must have maintained continuity in teaching (at least one course per year) and research (at least one publication per year).

11. Must have at least one national and one international research award.

12. Must have experience as a reviewer for at least 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and as an editor for at least 2 journals.

If you can think of any other qualifications, please add them.

If we can appoint such high-quality researchers as VC or Pro-VC at the universities, then it will be quite easy to bring those universities up to global standards.

We want world-class education in our universities, especially after so much sacrifice.
