This message may be valuable for young students of Bangladesh as they build their careers in science and research. I am a humble researcher, and my small experience and guidance may serve as a beacon for young people.
Dear Students,
To those of you interested in science, I extend my heartfelt welcome. Science is an infinite world of knowledge that creates opportunities for new ideas and innovation. Having a scientific mindset, curiosity, and a desire to know the truth will motivate you to move forward in this field. However, science is not just about acquiring knowledge—it is the path to discovering truth through hard work, perseverance, and patience. So, I want to offer some advice that will help you understand science more deeply and become more dedicated to it.
1. Be curious:
First of all, remember that curiosity is the chief quality in science. Be interested in everything, ask questions, and try to find out the reasons behind things. Strive to learn something new from every little thing and use that knowledge to seek solutions to real-world problems. Science is an endless path of exploration, and your curiosity will lead you forward.
2. Creative thinking and innovation:
Creativity and innovation play crucial roles in scientific research. Practicing science does not just mean memorizing theories and facts, but also fostering new ideas and concepts. When you see a problem, try to think about it in new ways and use innovative thinking to find solutions. In a developing country like Bangladesh, there are many problems, and through new technologies and solutions, you can help take the country forward.
3. Perseverance and patience:
Patience is an essential trait to achieve success in science. Even if you are filled with inspiration, remember that success is not easy. Failure may come again and again, but you need to learn from it. Do not lose sight of your goal after setbacks—keep working with patience. Scientists never give up; they find new solutions through failure.
4. Rely on logic and evidence:
Base your every decision and its reasoning on evidence. In science, there must be proof behind what you believe. Do not rely merely on opinions or assumptions; always work based on facts and evidence. Judge everything through logic and strive to gather accurate information and delve deep into every subject.
5. Learn to conduct research:
Science means research. If you truly want to understand science, you must engage in research. When you have an interest in a topic, more in-depth research is needed to learn further. While doing research, you must learn to collect data step by step, analyze it, and reach accurate conclusions. Especially for those who want to become scientists, research is the most important thing.
6. Be active in universities and research institutions:
It is difficult to pursue science alone. You need to be involved with research institutions, universities, and various science-focused organizations. Try to learn from them, join in different research projects, and seek guidance from experienced individuals. These opportunities will broaden your knowledge and help shape you into a successful scientist.
7. Acquire knowledge of international standards:
Science is a global discipline. So, you should not limit yourself to only the local level—you must think globally. Try to gain knowledge of the global stage through international science journals, research articles, and scientific conferences. With this information, you can increase the quality of your own research and become a researcher of international standards.
8. Be ethical:
Integrity and honesty are extremely important in science. Never falsify or commit fraud in research. Always maintain honesty in every step and present accurate information. An ethical scientist commands everyone’s respect and their work has greater impact.
To those of you who love science, never stop. Continue learning and discovering new things. The future of Bangladesh is in your hands, and as you advance in science, the country’s progress will accelerate. Keep striving to make your nation proud. My sincere best wishes for your success.
