The lead scientist of this research, John Donnelly, said that this new technology could make it easier to determine the timing of mammograms in the future. For example, women who show greater asymmetry in their breasts might be advised to have more frequent screenings. This means cancer can be detected earlier and the chances of saving lives will increase.
