She is currently employed at the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute.
How It All Started
Dr. Sweety Shahinoor completed her MPhil in Material Science at BUET, where she began research on natural fibers and polymers. Later, she went to Japan for higher studies and completed her PhD in Manufacturing Engineering. There, she worked on making jute fiber fire-resistant, water-resistant, and rot-resistant, technologies that have potential applications in various industries.
In 2005, she joined the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI) as a Scientific Officer. For her outstanding contributions, she was promoted to Senior Scientific Officer in 2016 and Chief Scientific Officer in 2022. Currently, she has over 50 published papers, leaflets, and articles in domestic and international journals, and she also serves as a reviewer for 6 international journals.
