A research proposal is a blueprint or outline of a research project, in which the subject matter, significance, and implementation methods are presented in detail. It provides a clear and organized presentation of your research’s logical basis, originality, and chosen methodology. Whether for a university thesis, PhD program, fellowship application, or research project funding, a strong research proposal is essential. Many good ideas are not accepted solely due to weak proposal writing. Therefore, it is extremely important for new researchers to learn how to write a quality research proposal, as this proposal is your first and most crucial step toward turning your idea into reality.
1. Title
– Should be concise, clear, and informative.
– Should reflect the main subject of the research.
– Avoid vague or overly broad words.
2. Abstract
– Usually between 150-250 words.
– Should include the research problem, objectives, brief methodology, and expected results.
– It should capture the reader’s interest and summarize the entire research.
3. Introduction
In the introduction, you need to explain the research context, relevance, and how your study fits into the current field.
– Problem statement: Clearly present the gap that exists in the current reality or research field.

– Objectives: Clearly state both general and specific objectives.

– Summarize and review key previous research relevant to your topic.
– Point out the gaps present in current research.
– Explain how your study will address these gaps.
– If needed, describe the related theoretical framework or models.
5. Research Methodology
In this section, you must explain in detail how you will conduct the research.
– Research design: Qualitative, Quantitative, or Mixed Methods?
– Sample and participants: Who will you work with? How will you select samples?
– Data collection methods: Surveys, interviews, case studies, experiments, etc.
– Data analysis methods: Statistical analysis, thematic analysis, machine learning, etc.
– Ethical considerations: Participant consent, confidentiality, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
6. Expected Outcomes and Contribution
– Discuss the possible results that may emerge.
– Explain how the potential contributions of the research might impact education, industry, or society.
7. Research Timeline
– Explain the timeframe for each step of the research.
– Use charts or tables to help readers easily understand when each task will take place.
8. Budget [if required]
– Mention expenses for data collection, software, experiments, travel, salaries if needed, and other costs.
– Present realistic and rational expenditures.

– Properly cite all the information or previous works by others that you have used.
– Follow the required style—APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.
