We interviewed Lily Dey, a computer engineer who is working to make technology simpler and more effective. Drawing from her experience in Bangladesh’s technology and financial sectors, and by adopting the research and knowledge of developed countries, she is moving forward with the aim to make people’s lives easier. Read her interview for a detailed discussion.
First, can we know a bit about you?
I am a computer engineer, working to make the use of technology in daily life simpler and more effective. With experience in Bangladesh’s technology and financial sectors, I am now absorbing research and knowledge from developed countries. I believe that dedication is the key to success, and my goal is to create technological solutions that make people’s lives easier.
What is the focus of your research?
I am a researcher with a deep interest in social media analysis and the use of related technologies. The main goal of my research is to build and maintain trust in digital platforms using machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and natural language processing (NLP). I believe that modern technology, especially these advanced methods, can make users’ experience with online content safer, more transparent, and more reliable.
Currently, I am implementing my research ideas in a laboratory at a university in Canada. Additionally, I am developing advanced models to assess and predict the credibility of content, which will help increase trust among users. This initiative aims to provide a trustworthy online browsing experience built on a combination of technological expertise and ethics.
How does your research benefit us or will benefit us in the future?
My research analyzes complex patterns of user behavior, emotions, and online engagement to understand how information and content gain trust online, and how users accept or reject that content. Through this analysis, my aim is to develop a method that creates a more trustworthy, safe, and informative digital environment for users. I firmly believe that these technologies and models will not only enhance trust and security but also make users’ online browsing experience simpler, more meaningful, and safer.
Do you have a message for young Bangladeshi students who want to work in science?
My message to young students in Bangladesh is—working in science is not just about gaining new knowledge, but also about nurturing a deep love for creation and a passion for solving problems. In the fields of technology, science, and research, there are always new things to learn, and this can bring transformation to every aspect of our lives.
Most importantly, stay dedicated to your work, because dedication and hard work are the keys to success. You can achieve what you dream of, as long as you move forward with faith and focus.
