As the world moves toward renewable energy and a carbon-neutral future, one of the pioneers on that journey is Dr. Naushad Haque, Principal Scientist at Australia’s national research organization CSIRO. CSIRO, or the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, is Australia’s national scientific research body and a driving force behind innovation in science, technology, and industry. Through research in areas such as climate change, health, energy, agriculture, and minerals, CSIRO continues to play a vital role in solving real-world problems globally. On Wednesday, December 10, at 5 PM (Bangladesh time), Biggani Org is hosting a special online live interview with him, where young students will learn the inside stories of global research, preparation for higher studies abroad, and directions for the future of energy technology.
Dr. Naushad Haque began his academic journey in Bangladesh, at the Department of Forestry, University of Chittagong. From there, he completed an MSc in Industrial Technology at Bangor University in the UK, followed by a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Australia’s University of Sydney. Today, he works at CSIRO with nearly two decades of experience as a researcher, team leader, and policy advisor. His main research areas include hydrogen energy systems, low-emission fuel technologies, techno-economic modeling, and life cycle assessment (LCA), allowing for comprehensive analysis of the economic potential and environmental impact of a technology.
Alongside research, he has served as a consultant in the minerals, metals, battery, e-waste, and forestry industries. Under his leadership, work is ongoing to develop low-cost, high-efficiency electrolyzer and fuel cell technologies, which will form the foundation of the future hydrogen economy. He currently leads the India–Australia Minerals Scholar Network, aiming to foster research and build human resources in critical minerals, green steel, and renewable technologies between the two countries. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at Swinburne University of Technology, a member of the editorial board of Springer’s Journal of Sustainable Metallurgy, and has long been a trusted advisor to international governments and industry groups.
