Professor Dr. Mohammad Enamul Hossain (Dr. M. Enamul Hossain or Dr. M.E. Hossain or Dr. Enamul Hossain or Dr. Mohammed Enamul Hossain) is an internationally recognized academic, scientist, and specialist who has made significant contributions in mineral resources, environment, and sustainability. He is the founder, CEO, and President of the NSRIC Group, Canada. Additionally, he is affiliated with its subsidiaries: NSRIC International School in Toronto (NIST), NSRIC International College in Toronto (NICT), NSRIC Immigration and Visa Consulting (NIVC), the International Conferences on Nature Science and Engineering Application (ICNSEA), and the World Association of Nature Science, Education and Engineering (WANSEE).

Dr. M. Enamul Hossain was born on June 6, 1969, in Koishya Para village, North Kharana, Patiya Upazila, Chattogram District, into a respected Muslim family. His grandfather and forefathers were spiritually enlightened, and he grew up under their guidance. After passing his SSC in 1986 with star marks in six subjects, he enrolled at Notre Dame College, Dhaka, following the advice of his father and uncle, and completed his HSC in 1988 with star marks in four subjects. From childhood, he aspired to study engineering at BUET. Consequently, he was admitted to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at BUET and obtained his BSc in Engineering in 1995.

Afterwards, he joined Jamuna Oil Company Limited under Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation. As a government officer keen to work on minerals, he completed his master’s degree in petroleum under a ministry scholarship through the BUET and University of Alberta, Canada linkage program, finishing in 2001. Upon returning to Bangladesh, he continued working for another three years in government service under the ministry.

During 2000 and 2001, he visited Canada to present his master’s research and findings at a petroleum conference. During this time, he realized he should pursue a PhD. As a result, he joined Dalhousie University, Canada, in 2005 for his PhD, completing it in April 2008 before the stipulated time, setting a record for the most extensive and highest number of research publications in the university’s history. Notably, while completing his PhD, he received the university’s top scholarship as well as various other scholarships—an unparalleled achievement in the university’s records. He also completed an MBA from the same university in 2009.

During his PhD, Dr. Hossain worked on the memory concept and for the first time introduced the memory concept in petroleum engineering, marking a milestone in the petroleum industry. As a result, he was granted 14 US patents. He conceived this idea from verse 24 of Surah Al-Hashr in the Holy Quran: “Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth constantly glorifies Him. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise (Sura Al-Hashr, Ayat-24).” This inspired him to wonder if even liquid petroleum substances might have a memory that could react accordingly. As we know, petroleum forms underground over millions of years through complex natural processes. The cyclical evolution of the interaction between fluids and rocks in these deep, dark layers results in what we call black gold or petroleum oil. The inevitable evolution that occurs due to these changes is referred to as the memory concept (PhD dissertation, Mohammed Enamul Hossain, Dalhousie University, Canada).

In his professional career, Professor Hossain has taught at universities in various countries, including Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) in Saudi Arabia, Memorial University in Canada, and the American University in Cairo, Egypt. He has held important administrative and academic positions and supervised over 100 master’s and PhD students. He served as the Statoil Oil Chair Professor at Memorial University in Canada.

Academically, he has authored ten books on various areas of petroleum engineering in collaboration with Elsevier and Wiley & Scrivener Publishing, USA. He has written more than 200 scientific articles. Additionally, Professor Dr. Hossain holds 14 US patents, some of which are currently under commercialization. The “Memory Concept” in petroleum engineering was first applied in his research, as previously mentioned, and is still used to a limited extent in other branches of engineering and science research.
