A.K.M. Zahiruddin is currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore. He has earned two Master’s degrees and has been teaching in various higher education institutions around the world for over 30 years. Zahiruddin is a trainer approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), allowing him to teach different modules of the Aircraft Maintenance License. Presently, he works as a Technical Instructor, Examiner, and Assessor at the TP-Lufthansa Technical Training (TP-LTT) Centre. His main research and activities include e-assessment, complete e-learning development, and micro-learning. In 2017, he was awarded the “Long Service Medal” by the Singapore government. Though he was born in Bangladesh, he currently resides in Singapore and continues to inspire students and professionals.

Q: Please tell us something about yourself.
A: I live in Singapore and work as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at Temasek Polytechnic. I have two master’s degrees and more than 30 years of teaching experience at various higher education institutions around the world. I have a daughter and a son. They mostly live in Australia with my wife.
Q: Where are you currently employed?
A: As a trainer approved by EASA and CAAS, I teach various aircraft maintenance modules. I am currently working as a Technical Instructor, Examiner, and Assessor at the TP-Lufthansa Technical Training (TP-LTT) Centre.
Q: What are your main areas of focus?
A: My main areas of focus are e-assessment, 100% e-learning development, and micro-learning.
Q: Who has inspired you in your life?
A: My family and friends inspire me. I am also grateful for my colleagues and the young students I teach.
Q: How did you feel after receiving this award?
A: I was more surprised by the reactions of my family, friends, and ORCA brothers than by the award itself. It truly felt wonderful.

A: People who motivate me are my wonderful family at home and friends. I am blessed with great colleagues at work and amazing young adults where I teach.
