JR Screen Ruler – A Virtual Screen Measuring Tool

For various reasons, we sometimes need to measure what is displayed on our computer screens. For instance, you might want to know the size of an image. Generally, from an image file’s properties, we can only find out the pixel dimensions. However, when printing an image, using it in another application, or programming, you might need the measurements in units other than pixels. In situations like this, a software tool such as JR Screen Ruler can be very useful.
With this screen ruler, you can precisely measure not just images but anything displayed on your screen—horizontally or vertically—in units such as pixels, inches, centimeters, or picas. For example, in the screenshot, the height of the Avro Keyboard’s top bar was measured as 0.30 inches. (Please do not consider Sumaiya Shimu’s face as part of the ruler—she was simply in my desktop wallpaper and thus appeared in the screenshot.)

If you wish, you can also download the professional version of JR Screen Ruler. The pro version offers some extra features, among which the most notable is the ability to measure diagonally. However, the professional version is not free. So, it would be wise to use the standard version unless you specifically need diagonal measurement, in which case you can download the 15-day trial of the professional version.
