A French train has set a world record by running at an incredible speed. The train, named Train à Grande Vitesse (Traine a Grande Vitesse (TGV)), broke the record last Tuesday by reaching a speed of 356 miles (574 km) per hour. The French government had announced beforehand that the train’s experimental run would be recorded on Tuesday.
The manufacturer, Alstom, said that before the speed record attempt, a new high-speed railway line was constructed from Paris to Strasbourg. On the test day, the train raced down this line. During the test, thousands of excited spectators gathered in Paris and Strasbourg to catch a glimpse of the train. When the train began its run, the crowd burst into applause. Measurement instruments recorded its top speed at 574.8 km per hour. This is a world record for train speed.
In 2003, Japan’s ultra-modern magnetic Maglev train set a record by reaching a top speed of 361 miles (581 km) per hour. Upon hearing the news of the new record, the French President warmly congratulated everyone involved. Alstom also reported that their previous TGV speed record was 320.2 miles per hour. The train has since been modernized, and extensive testing has been conducted. However, they have no plans to surpass the Japanese train’s speed, as Japan’s Maglev is a sophisticated magnetic train. Attempting to exceed that speed would pose significant risks. With the success of this test, Alstom is expected to gain a considerable advantage over its competitors in the railway business since TGV trains are highly sought after worldwide for being both faster and more affordable. Notably, China, South Korea, and Taiwan frequently import this type of train.
French railway authorities stated that the train has been extensively upgraded. It has also gone through several rounds of experimental runs, during which it broke speed records, although these were not officially recorded. This is why the formal test was conducted.

এই খবরটির সাথে পাঠকদের সাথে দুটি অভিজ্ঞতা শেয়ার করছি।
প্রথমটি হল বুলেট ট্রেন যাকে জাপানিজরা বলে শিনকানসেন (Shinkansen)। জাপানের সাধারণ ট্রেনগুলির পাশাপাশি এই বিশেষ দ্রুতগতি সম্পন্ন ট্রেনটি বড় বড় শহরগুলির মধ্যে যাতায়াতের জন্য বহুল পরিমানে ব্যবহৃত হয়। প্লেনের থেকেও বুলেট ট্রেন বেশী ব্যবহার হবার কারণ হল প্লেনের ক্ষেত্রে টিকেট, চেকআপ, অপেক্ষা ইত্যাদি কারণে বেশ সময় চলে যায় কিন্ত বুলেট ট্রেনে সেই সময়টা কম লাগে ফলে প্লেনের থেকে কম দ্রুত হলেও মোট সময় পরিমাপ করলে প্লেনের থেকে বুলেট ট্রেনে কম সময় লাগে। আমি নিজেও বেশ বুলেট ট্রেন ব্যবহার করেছি। এবং সত্যিই এত দ্রুত চলে অথচ কম কম্পন হয়। এত কম কম্পন হয় যে আপনি বুঝতেই পারবেননা যে আপনি ট্রেনে বসে আছেন।
এর পরের অভিজ্ঞতাটি হল লিনিয়ার ট্রেনের (যেটিকে প্রথম আলো চুম্বকীয় ম্যাগলেভ ট্রেন বলছে)অভিজ্ঞতা। লিনিয়ার ট্রেনে সাধারণ লোহার পাতের ট্রেনলাইনের পরিবর্তে চৌম্বক লাইন ব্যবহার করা হয়। এবং ট্রেনটির চাকাগুলিও চৌম্বকের। ট্রেনটি যখন চলে তখন ট্রেনটি ট্রেনলাইন থেকে দূরে ভাসমান অবস্থায় থাকে। যেহেতু সরাসরি চাকার সাথে ট্রেনলাইন সংযুক্ত হয়না তাই ঘর্ষণ জনিত রোধগুলি কমান যায়। লিনিয়ার ট্রেনটি মারাত্মক গতিতে চালান সম্ভব। যদিও জাপান এই ট্রেনটি নিয়ে অনেকদিন ধরেই গবেষনা করছে কিন্তু এটিকে এখনও বাণিজ্যিক ভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়নি। তবে এই ট্রেনটিতে চলার অভিজ্ঞতা হয়েছিল নাগোয়াতে অনুষ্ঠিত এক্সপো অনুষ্ঠানে। সেটিতে পরিক্ষামূলক ভাবে চলবার সুযোগ দিয়েছিল। লিনিয়ার ট্রেনের কম্পন বুলেট ট্রেনের থেকেও অনেক কম।
উপরের খবরে গতি নিয়ে যে বিপদের কথা বলা হয়েছে তা একটু ব্যাখা করছি। যদি খুব বেশী দ্রুত হয় তবে সেরকম ট্রেনকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করা বেশ কঠিন এবং তাতে দূর্ঘটনা হবার সম্ভবনা বেশী থাকে। সমান্য সময়ের মধ্যে ট্রেনটি অনেক দূরে চলে যাবে তাই এই ভয়। এছাড়া আরো একটি সমস্যা হল মানুষ বেশী দ্রুত যানবাহনে চললে শরীরের মধ্যে বিভিন্ন বিরূপ প্রতিক্রিয়া হতে পারে।
