The Surface Computer is essentially a computer equipped with a touch screen. With a 30-inch display, this computer looks a lot like a table. Unlike traditional desktop computers, you won’t need a mouse, or a keyboard to use it. Users will be able to accomplish necessary tasks just by touching the sensitive surface with their fingers. This screen can even read barcodes. There are also several differences between this touchscreen and conventional touchscreens. For example: Conventional touchscreens cannot detect more than one touch at a time, but the Surface Computer’s touchscreen has this unique capability. If you touch the screen with ten fingers, this multi-touch display can interpret commands from each finger separately. And since its shape is like a table, it can be used by several people at once. This visually appealing “Surface” by Axolotl is 22 inches high, 21 inches deep and 42 inches wide. Its internal part is made of powder-coated steel. It will consume 110-120 volts of electricity (as per US standards).
Surface’s operating system will be Vista. Along with mapping and some default applications, Microsoft will provide more that will give Surface users a unique experience. The shiny black Surface is set to launch in the market in November this year. While its exact price is still unknown, Microsoft has stated that depending on the model, various Surface units will cost between five thousand and ten thousand US dollars. With such a high price, many interested buyers may be disappointed. However, there’s no reason for them to be too disappointed. Microsoft hopes, in the not-too-distant future, Surface will become accessible to everyday people. But for that, we will have to wait a few more years. Initially, you’ll find Surface at places such as Harrah’s Entertainment, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and T-Mobile (USA) stores. In these places, Surface will make tasks easier for both buyers and sellers. For example: By touching Surface’s touchscreen, customers will be able to learn all the details about different cellphone models. Now let’s take a quick look back in time. Microsoft, the software giant, began working on building large hardware like Surface in 2001. Microsoft’s research and hardware group worked on this project. After nearly six years of relentless effort, the Surface was announced to launch in the final week of May this year. Previously, aside from the Xbox and Zune media player, Microsoft hadn’t released any major hardware in the market. So naturally, public interest this time is a bit higher than usual. Everyone is eagerly waiting for Surface. Perhaps Surface will soon dethrone the traditional desktop PC. While technology experts view this positively, other hardware manufacturers are starting to pay close attention. Accusations of monopoly are nothing new for Microsoft. Just as Microsoft now dominates the operating systems market, will the hardware market also ultimately fall under Microsoft’s control?? Only time will tell.

Surface is designed primarily for hotels, restaurants, and various other business establishments including stores. Just as ATMs have revolutionized banking, Surface is sure to transform the current landscape of these businesses. And this computer—completely devoid of a keyboard and mouse, and thus totally streamlined—also has the potential to become popular among home users in the near future.
Research on touchscreen technology has been ongoing for a long time. ‘Surface’ is a significant milestone in this area. Perhaps one day this sleek, black table will take us into a whole new world of computing. Now, all we have to do is wait…
