Chapter – 5 (Space-Time)
Many branches of physics—like Classical Mechanics, Special Theory of Relativity, and General Theory of Relativity—are based on “space-time.” Have you ever wondered why human perception is locked within the framework of distance and time? Why can’t our perception transcend the constraints of space-time? The answer perhaps lies in gamma waves. In fact, during slow wave sleep, REM, and wakefulness, 40 Hz gamma waves are present in the brain. Neural loops connecting the cerebral cortex and thalamus, through which gamma waves travel, generate our sensation of “space.” Other loops connecting the cerebral cortex to the midbrain and elsewhere generate our sense of “time.” These 40 Hz gamma waves set up resonance among these neural circuits, creating in our brains the very notion of “space-time.”
